Completed: Spring 2023

The homeowners of the Douglasdale Residence loved the location of their home but dreamt for years about renovating it to give it an entirely new look and feel. Their home was built in the 90s and featured the era’s classic yellow oak cabinetry and hardwood floors throughout. Large decorative arches had also been incorporated into the original design of the house, limiting the functionality of the kitchen, and making the main living area feel very dark and closed in. However, the homeowners saw the potential and decided it was time to get started with the renovation that would turn their house into their dream home.

We started this extensive renovation by removing the existing cabinetry throughout the main floor. We also removed the existing decorative arches and squared off the wall openings throughout the main floor, making a significant difference throughout their living areas. Suddenly their main floor was flooded with an abundance of natural light.

The yellow oak cabinetry throughout the kitchen was replaced with fresh, custom cabinetry, including a long stunning white oak island. New quartz countertops with subtle veining, the vertically stacked organic tile backsplash, and new stainless-steel appliances complemented the new millwork throughout, creating a stunning, modern kitchen that the homeowners can enjoy for many years to come.

In addition to completely revamping the kitchen, we also updated the rest of the main floor through this extensive renovation. We replaced the dated gas fireplace with a new linear fireplace complete with asymmetrical custom white oak built-is and a honed limestone surround. We also added a gorgeous white oak built-in dining buffet to the formal dining room and added even more built-ins to the front entryway and hallway, creating aesthetically pleasing storage solutions for the homeowners in all the key areas of their home.

We also updated the powder room and laundry room, tying those in with the modern aesthetics of the main floor. And we replaced the yellow oak flooring throughout with a wide plank-engineered hardwood. Last, but certainly not least, the yellow oak stair railing was replaced with white oak railing, complete with metal spindles, creating quite the statement throughout the main floor.
